My name is Kahayla Rapolla. I’m an American bassoonist with international orchestral and reed-making experience. For over 10 years, I have cultivated a distinct sound that has been described as warm and colorful.

To me, reed-making feels like a woodworking puzzle. We spend hours upon hours crafting these products for daily use. Every step of the process is crucial to creating a reed that fully showcases our artistic ability.

The cane I use varies between several companies such as Lavoro, Argendonax, Marion, and Rigotti. I find that being able to use several variations of cane allows for a great deal of flexiblity in both my playing and reed making. Christlieb Narrow reeds and Rieger 2 reeds available.
